A special session with Endlings (Ravon Chacon + John Dieterich [of Deerhoof]). Endlings have performed a work specially for Unusual Music Exchange in partnership with CJTR, Dunlop Art Gallery, and YYZ Artists Outlet. We listen to the work and discuss how it was made. We also get into some unusual ideas about beauty, translation, and discovering the unknown.
John Dieterich is a guitarist, composer and producer based in Albuquerque, NM. He plays in the band Deerhoof and collaborates on a variety of musical and artistic projects.
Raven Chacon is a prizewinning composer, performer and installation artist from Fort Defiance, Navajo Nation. Chacon has exhibited or performed, as a solo artist or in groups, at venues ranging from The Kennedy Center to the Biennale of Sydney. Every year he teaches students composition for the Native American Composer Apprenticeship Project. And he lives also in Albuquerque, NM.
