Strange sounds from Counterflows Glasgow

This episode Josh Thorpe listens to a few recordings from musicians and artists discovered at Glasgow’s Counterflows festival. Artists include an English-Ugandan collaboration w/ Rian Treanor and Ocen James; an American spoken word and free jazz group w/ Fred Moten, Brandon Lopez, and Gerald Cleaver; a strange cello and tape piece from Judith Hamann; and Beirut’s aficionados of deeply extended technique, A Trio.

Counterflows is an extraordinary festival, as is Tectonics, which follows soon after each year. It’s amazing to see so many amazing international artists and so many enthusiastic listeners come together.
